My Hubby

He's a good part of the reason I can do what I do.
He's Tak Photography's tech person.
Without Shawn there would be no website, cool flash proof viewer,
or away sessions (he keeps the kids.)

Thanks honey for all that you do to make Tak Photography great!

PS - This is my Shawn -- big glasses and hood.
We tell him he looks like the unibomber!

Customer Appreciation Days ... The Pics :)

My day started with my first little subject.
People ask me how long I've been in business.

I stop and think about how old little L. is and then I can tell you.
A HUGE thank you to L.'s mom, M.

You make my job easy and FUN!

I've photographed these twin's brother for a couple of years. What a joy it's been to see these two grow!! I've enjoyed getting to know their parents also. FUN people!! PS - This is also the fish bowl that was tipped. I was truly amazed that little K. didn't even cry when all the water hit her. I appreciated K.'s parents who didn't let a little ;) water ruin the photo session.
Little F. first came to me at a Portrait Party this past Christmas.
It was a joy to get to photograph his one year pictures.
His parents win the award for coming the furthest to get pictures!
Continuing with the One Year Pictures little M. came in for the first time.
I enjoyed meeting her and seeing her toothy grin.
I'm looking forward to photographing her again this summer at the beach.
The Walter family came in with their new little one.
I've had the opportunity to photograph little T. when he was first born.
It always amazes me how big babies get!!
This was my first opportunity to use our new backdrop.
This family also came from a Portrait Party.
I was thrilled to do an updated family portrait for them.
Here's another little guy I've had the pleasure of photographing since he was a newborn!
I've appreciated his family very much.
I LOVE little S.'s eyes. We had a blast at this session.
All it took for giant smile was a round of popping out from the camera.
Easy!
Guess what?!?!
Three of my favorite mommas are PREGNANT!
K. is one of them!!
CONGRATS!!

Customer Appreciation Days

First of all let me say -- Titles to the posts freak me out.
Today's was pretty easy but most of the time I feel rather blah about such things.
I guess that's why I'm a photographer and not a novelist.
I continually go around and see photographs in my mind.

The blue sky with a tree in the frame just so ...
My son when he's watching TV and his eyelashes are illuminated by the glow of the TV ...
The bear at the zoo peaking from behind the rock.

Words -- Not so much.

But, I digress.

Today was the beginning of Customer Appreciation Days
here at Tak Photography.
No pictures quite yet but I wanted to say that I've had a blast today.

It all started with my longest customer. I'm sure you've seen her as she's in a lot of my literature!!
We had an entire fish bowl of water tip over. We had the cleanest cake eating session.
It's been a fun day!

Want to join in the fun?
There are available spots this week!!
Check out the website for more details.

Just an FYI!
This blog's very first post was about Customer Appreciation Days last year.

Happy one year blog to Tak Photography.
I need to find some cake!!

My Family

When you are a photographer it sometimes gets a little tricky to take a picture of yourself.
Most of the time when I want a family picture I set the camera up on my tripod and get everything set. I then have my sister, Bethany, push the button.

Well, with this picture, I had a problem.
Bethany (and everyone else is my family) was in the picture.

My sister Lisa was in town and we wanted a family picture of ALL of us.
Time for the stand-by ... the camera timer.
What fun it was to push the button then RUN into place.
Of course, it did make us all smile.
We had such luck with the timer that I continued using it for the above shot.
Ahh! Relief - It felt good to have the camera back in my hand again!!

This is a rare photo!!
My mom, who is quite beautiful, isn't a fan of the camera.
She's actually been the reason I have great empathy for those reluctant participants who come into the studio.
But this photo -- perfection!Another miracle picture!!!
These three haven't taken a good picture together in forever.
My mom has been wanting a mouse pad with the three together.
FINALLY!

New Life

S. came to me with just weeks left before the arrival of their first little one.
I love maternity portraits.
I'm looking forward to taking pictures of their new baby.
Any day now ...
Hang in there S.!
