In Memoriam

Larry Wiggins, my dad
June 14, 1947-December 15, 2005

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Happy Birthday

Today is my Mom's Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Mom!

I had to search for five whole minutes to find a picture of my mom.
Well, let's just say a picture she wouldn't kill me for posting.
I've found that I either take really embarrassing shots of my mom or none at all.

Irregardless, here is a picture of my beautiful mom at her favorite place on earth!

It's Christmas Time

I was privileged to participate in another successful Portrait Party on Saturday.

Thank you so much to everyone who attend and to Meg C. for hosting and of course her mom for opening up her home to us.

Portrait Parties are wonderful way for all of your friends to get their holiday pictures!
Our holiday parties are so popular that I've run out of available dates until January!

Let me know if you're interested in a 2008 Portrait Party.
As it turns out they fill up fast!

Guess how old this guy is ... well, he's three.

I Feel Your Pain

Our church is having everyone come in to get their pictures
taken for our new church directory.

Our appointment was this evening.
I've forgotten how stressful family picture day is!
I'll be sympathizing more now with the stressed out moms that come into the studio.

I don't know what I was thinking but I didn't plan anything for us to wear.

I was out this afternoon frantically shopping at Old Navy for matching outfits.
Then everyone had to take a shower.
(Insert Nathan's voice here, "I just took one two days ago!)
Next we had to blow dry Keyanna's hair.
I had to put on make-up. Blah!

To further annoy my family I couldn't go get our picture without one here first.
After all what kind of photographer would I be without documenting our family showered.

So we made it to our appointment and our picture turned out fine I guess.
I look a little ... well ... large?!?
We had a male photographer who didn't quite understand hiding the flaws.

Here is the one we took before leaving. I like it better.
You'll notice I know how to hide my , umm, tummy area.

Please note - the following pictures were all taken here in my studio.
I can't show you the one taken at church because it's copyrighted.
I believe in copyrights ... plus, I just look large!

My New Favorite Picture

This is my new favorite picture of all time.
Of course my favorite picture changes often.
But, for right now, this is the one.

I kinda manipulated this image by adding their pooch in post production,
but the little guy did sit with "his brother" later in the session.
For this, my favorite image, I just wanted the legs of the parents to be included.
Kids (& pets) are fun, aren't they?

Tak Family Moment

We interrupt this Studio blog to bring you some moments from my family.
The inspiration of my KIA Package has just turned 10.
Wow ... I know what "they" mean when they say time flies!
Being 10 apparently means you are mostly grown.
Shawn and I just dread the hormones!
Anyway, Kia received her first flowers in honor of her 10th birthday.
Her favorite color is blue!We also welcomed a new member into our family this week.
This is our girl, Aggie.
She is loving and affectionate.

Christmas Greeting Cards

I've had several clients call in the last couple of weeks inquiring about Holiday Greeting Cards.
I thought that even though it's only August -- Christmas is just around the corner.
I've spent some of my off days this past week designing new Greeting Cards
and tweaking old designs.

This is FUN & Addicting! So far I'm at 31 4x8 cards and counting.
Take a look and let me know what you think.

First Birthday

This little guy holds a special place in my heart.
He has the same name as my little (growing up fast) guy.
My kids find it fascinating that another would share their name.
He had a great birthday party here in the studio.
But then he was finished!

Summer Vacation

Many people have asked where we went on our summer vacation.
The answer is ... Camping at the Indiana Dunes.

I found this tent at the Goodwill in Lansing/Munster
and thought it'd be great fun to try out "tent camping".

Everything went really well the beginning of our vacation!

We enjoyed sunsets at the beachand nature hikes
but our last day there it rained & rained & did I mention rained!
You'll notice a lack of pictures of the rain.
I was too busy calming frantic children
and attempting to save our belongings from being soaked.

Yet, all in all I'd say it was a wonderful vacation.

Also, just in case you're thinking we completely roughed it ...
my son found an electrical outlet when his Gameboy DS ran out of charge!
Whew ... I bet you were worried!

Beach Days, part 1

This past Friday started our Second Annual Beach Days.

We were blessed with an extremely mild week-end which was mostly clear.

I love this event as it brings out many families and it's a more casual session
so I get to see how different members of a family interact with each other.
One of my favorite things in life is watching Daddies play with their children!

For June 23rd, 24th & 30th Beach Goers -- BE WARNED!
The hill to get on and off the beach is a doozy!
If you're at the end of the day take pity on my legs (& lungs)
and pretend like you need to go slow!

Cuddly Newborn

Every once in a while a particularly cuddly newborn comes along. Such is the case with this little guy.He just laid back and allowed us to pose him however we wanted.
Kinda makes you want one of your very own doesn't it.

It's that time of Year!

It's so much fun to do senior pictures!!
Being the end of the year I've had quite a few seniors come in for their photos
these last couple of weeks.

It's always interesting to do photos for seniors one day and then do newborns the next.
The parents of these children are the same yet vastly different.
The same in that they are so proud to show you their child and let you know their current accomplishments.
Yet, vastly different, Newborn parents are giddy with excitement over what the future holds and all of the time they are going to get to spend with their child.
Senior Parents know that their time is almost to an end. It's time to send these children into the world and see what they're made of. They know that their time together is now reliant on their child remembering to call.
